Late night US Weekly

Instead of going to sleep at a normal hour, I opted to stay up late and read about Owen Wilson's downward spiral via US Weekly. Obviously that was much more important that going to sleep at a reasonable hour. Sure I read about this last week along with the rest of the world, but of course I felt compelled to burn the midnight (or 1 a.m.) oil and read about his self-destruction all over again. What is our obsession with reading about celebrity meltdowns?

Although we proclaim to feel so utterly horrible "Oh, the poor guy! I feel soooo bad for him!" we still secretly take pleasure in hibernating away to read a page-by-page in depth analysis about their innermost humiliations and weakest moments; happy that it isn't us, and that we cannot be paraded around for the whole world to see and judge. As long as it's not me, then I'm more than happy to read about every last detail.

I still can't picture that affable, goofy, flaxed haired jokester to be drug abusing, depressed, and suicidal. Makes him a lot more human, doesn't it?

Oh Owen...look at how skinny he looks! And was this picture really the straw that broke the camel's back? Over Dax Shepard? Really? Gross.Kate, you can do so much better.
