My mom is really excited about my big move (as am I...one week and counting!) and likes to think of herself as my 'personal shopper'. When I am working away, she likes to go to various stores and pick out things I need. All of the receipts keep piling up, and I'm going to end up writing one hefty check. Anyway, I digress.
So my mom was scouting through the Home Goods section of our local TJMAXX and ended up

My mom and this stranger continue to talk like they are long lost friends from high school: chatting away, laughing, and carrying on.
The discussion then turned to where these amazing finds of my mother's were going? Oak Street was the answer. In my daughter's new apartment.
Suddenly the woman's face lit up.
"Oak Street? How old is your daughter?"
"23."
"Wow! I have a 27 year old son who just took the Bar exam. He's living on Delaware, right by Oak Street. He's very single. Is your daughter single?"
Suddenly in a span of 5 minutes these two new found friends were planning my relationship future, along with that of a Mr. Brandon Smith from River Forest. My mom felt an instant connection to this woman and she could not explain it. She told me that she could have gone out to lunch with her and talked for hours.
The conversation turned to:
"I would love it if your daughter and my son got together. They could then date, fall in love, and then we could plan the wedding!"
My mom chuckled heartily, but for some reason really enjoyed herself, and felt very okay with the situation.
They laughed their way through goodbyes, and the woman floated out of the store calling "I'll see you at the wedding!" to a room full of confused stares and my mother's laughter.
What would you know, but two minutes later she came running back into the store, somewhat breathless. She NEEDED my phone number for her son.
"What the heck" my mom thought to herself as she penned 'Katie: 630-291..." onto a scrap of paper.
So now I'm wondering if this mysterious Brandon will call. I know he probably won't, but the thought of him maybe calling is more exciting than I choose to readily admit. How interesting would that be? It's not my usual style, but I think I would take a chance. What's life without a little excitement?
Hmmm...Brandon....maybe you should call me!
