Please Keep My Family in Your Prayers

As I sat here at work zoning out on a Friday, my mom called and informed me that my two year old cousin, Evan, was admitted to the hospital last night with bacterial meningitis after suffering from a few seizures.

The main children's hospital in Dallas was full, so they had to admit him elsewhere. They don't know what strain of bacteria, or what's going to happen to him. The best case scenario is that he will be in the hospital for at least 2-3 weeks, and that's the only good news (if it even turns out that way). Merry Christmas.

This is such a serious situation, and such a nasty illness, especially since he's so young. I'm trying to think positively but as soon as I heard my hands started shaking uncontrollably and I had to go in the back room because I was crying. I'm just sitting here thinking of my baby cousin hooked up to all these machines, my aunt and uncle and other cousins waiting, not knowing.

If I could go home right now I would. I feel like a deflated balloon.

So if you have a few extra minutes, please say some prayers for little Evan, and for my family. I hope we get good news soon. Take the time to tell your family and loved ones how much they mean to you, too. Appreciate your good health and that of your family. Times like these prove to be a reality check to how things in life can turn at a moments notice.

Oh no! :( You and your family, of course, are in my prayers. I will call you from Savannah for updates! Love you!
